FLIR EO/IR Surveillance Sensors Selected For UH-1N Replacement Contract

FLIR Star SAFIRE 380-HDc to Provide U.S. Strategic Command Surveillance Capabilities On Boeing Helicopters

FLIR Systems has been selected by Boeing to provide the FLIR Star SAFIRE 380-HDc EO/IR surveillance sensor for the United States Air Force (USAF) UH-1N replacement contract. The replacement program will replace the current fleet of USAF UH-1N helicopters, which support the service’s nuclear intercontinental ballistic missile bases in Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota. The aircraft will also be used for training, test and operational support airlift missions.

Dr. Gladys West Was One Of A Small Group Of Women Who Did Computing For The U.S. Military In The Pre-Electronic Era

Lt. Gen. David Thompson, Air Force Space Command vice commander, presented Dr. Gladys West with the Air Force Space and Missile Pioneers award for her decades of contributions to the Air Force’s space program. West was unable to attend the formal induction ceremony that took place Aug. 28, where three others joined the elite list of professionals who have greatly impacted the Air Force space program.

European MALE RPAS Program Passes The System Preliminary Design Review

Final Milestone Of The Program Definition Study

Another major milestone in the European Medium Altitude Long Endurance Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (MALE RPAS) program was attained with the achievement of the System Preliminary Design Review on November 22nd. This highly significant accomplishment follows the European Organization for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR) inviting Airbus Defence and Space on October 31st to submit a Tender for the Development, Production and initial in Service Support phase of the European MALE RPAS Program.
