Aero-News learned Wednesday the first Boeing C-17 Globemaster
III for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) rolled out of the
company's paint hangar in Long Beach, CA, and has begun
preparations for its first flight, scheduled for later this
month.
The Wright brothers first came up with the idea, after watching
how birds flew through the air by changing the shape of their wings
to alter direction.
A CH-47 Chinook helicopter can fly on just one engine. It can
even fly without benefit of its advanced flight-control system. But
it doesn't get off the ground without fuel.
Goodrich Corporation has won a contract to give 500 mission
operators of the Air Force E-3 Airborne Warning and Control
Aircraft (AWACS) a more comfortable chair when sitting at
their positions.
