FAA InFO Clarifies Instrument Procedure Logging

Outlines What Is Necessary For Instrument Currency Compliance

The FAA has issued an Information For Operators (InFO) clarifying the conditions under which a pilot may log an IAP in his or her logbook. Logging IAPs is necessary for a pilot to show compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) instrument currency and training requirements. Furthermore, the information contained in this InFO may be applied to instrument practical tests and instrument proficiency checks.

Frasca recently installed two Cessna 172 Mentor AATDs (Advanced Aviation Training Devices) at the Aviation and Aerospace Science Department at Metro State University (MSU) in Denver, Colorado. During the installation, Frasca engineers also upgraded host computers on ten of their existing simulators and installed projector upgrades to their Cessna Mustang Flight Training Device (FTD).
