2023 EAA Young Eagles Leadership Award Winner Named

Phillips 66 Aviation has named Tom Meadows, a member in good standing of EAA Chapter 1073 in Truckee, California, the winner of 2023’s Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Young Eagles Leadership Award. Presented yearly during the EAA’s annual AirVenture event in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the Young Eagles Leadership Award recognizes exceptional Young Eagles volunteers who’ve resolutely supported aviation’s future by exceeding the expectations of their fellow EAA members and the Association’s leadership.

On 26 July 2023, Extra Aircraft executive Marcus Extra announced his company had received the first order for its new 330SX aerobatic airplane.

Embry-Riddle Selects Diamond DA42-VI for Fleet Renewal

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University will renew the multi-engine training fleet of its Daytona Beach, Florida campus with one-dozen Diamond’s DA42-VI aircraft. Slated for 2024 deliveries, the Embry-Riddle’s new DA42-VI are powered, notably, by Austro Engine’s jet-fuel piston powerplants. Dr. Ken Byrnes, Embry-Riddle assistant dean and Flight chair of Aeronautical Science, stated: "We are excited to extend our long-term use of Diamond DA42 Aircraft.”

Electric Power Systems Battery to Power Elfly’s Seaplane

Electric Power Systems (EPS), a provider of electrical energy storage solutions, has been selected as the battery provider for Elfly’s highly anticipated all-electric seaplane. The companies announced their partnership at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2023, in which both companies are participating. Under the terms of the partnership agreement, EPS will deliver its EPiC battery line for the initial demonstration to incorporate upgradable energy solutions.
