Robinson Displays R66 Police Helicopter at APSCON

The 2023 iteration of the Airborne Public Safety Association’s Conference (APSCON) saw Robinson Helicopter Company display a new R66 Police helicopter recently added to the rotary-wing fleet of Florida’s Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Robinson personnel were joined at the 19-21 July, Orlando, Florida event by aviation officers of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, who fielded attendees’ operational and tactical questions.

ZeroAvia Completes Initial Flight-Testing of ZA600 Powerplant

Hydrogen-Electric Engine Powers Dornier 228

ZeroAvia, the British/American hydrogen-electric aircraft developer, has completed initial flight-testing of its prototype ZA600 hydrogen-electric powerplant at the U.K.’s Cotswold Airport (GBA). The tenth flight in the initial series was completed last week, and saw a cruise test to establish projections for future ranges using the system, thus teeing up the first cross-country flights as the next stage of testing and demonstration.

Cicaré USA’s Cicaré 8 helicopter has achieved certification under the LTF-ULH regulations for ultralight helicopters (under 1320-pounds maximum take-off weight). The helicopter is the first to be certified under the new weight class. The Cicaré 8 also holds French certification under the European nation’s Class 6 requirements. Moreover, the FAA has designated the Cicaré Trainer an approved air training device (ATD).

NTSB Improves CAROL Search Functions

The National Transportation Safety Board has updated its Case Analysis and Reporting Online (CAROL) database. Subject database allows users to search for and examine data germane to investigations and recommendations across the entirety of the agency’s purview. In addition to broadened search and download capabilities, CAROL now includes an expanded aviation dataset for information pertaining to investigations from 1962 to present.
