New FMS Reduces Workload In Single-Pilot IFR Operations
In addition to the just announced certification
of Avidyne's much awaited Release 9 Flight Deck, we're pleased to
report that the Avidyne FMS900w has gotten the same respect from
the FAA. The certification of their new Entegra FMS900W
WAAS-enabled GPS/NAV/COM Flight Management System (FMS) is designed
to reduce workload for single-pilot IFR operations.
Controller Instructed Pilot To "Keep Your Speed Up" and
"Maintain Maximum Forward Speed"
An aircraft operating in VFR conditions but
under an IFR flight plan was found to have broken up, prior to
impact, according to information recently imparted by the NTSB. The
pilot stopped communications with controllers less than a minute
after being instructed to keep his speed up during his descent.

At the recent Aircraft Electronics Association's 52nd annual
International Convention & Trade Show, from April 1-4, in
Dallas, Texas, seven new board members were seated during the
annual AEA board of directors election. In addition, new
