AOPA President Phil Boyer and Northwest Airlines CEO Richard
Anderson sat down Friday afternoon to discuss their differences as
highlighted by a strong, anti-general aviation editorial Anderson
wrote for Northwest's in-flight magazine. Immediately after the
editorial was published, AOPA prepared a line-by-line rebuttal of
the editorial.
It was snowing heavily and very foggy in New York's Franklin
County Friday night when 57-year old Paul Grulich and his 49-year
old wife Alice, were trying to land their Piper PA-28R-180. They
were headed from Virginia to Adirondacks Regional Airport where
Paul told controllers he would land at about 8:00 pm EST. They
never made the airport.
