FAA: Laser Incidents Increase In 2013

Nearly 4,000 Reports Of Lasers Being Directed At Aircraft

The FAA has released a report showing an increase in lasers being aimed at aircraft over the past year with 3,960 such incidents in 2013. That's up from 3,482 in 2012, and 384 in 2006, the first year such statistics were kept.

Larry Whitesitt Receives FAA's Master Pilot Award

Citation Presented At Spokane FSDO In December

Larry Lee Whitesitt, EAA 1088285, of Fairfield, Washington, was honored with the FAA's Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award signifying 50 years of safe, violation-free flying - many as a bush pilot in Canada's Northwest Territory. Minard Thompson, FAASTeam program manager at the Spokane FSDO, presented the award at the Chapter 79 Christmas party held in December.
