Santa Clara Airport Bans 100LL

From Jan 1, 2022, only UL94 Available at Reid-Hillview and San Martin

As always in California, things just keep getting better... not. A long running dispute with locals about the impact of airborne lead has finally taken effect, banning the sale and distribution of 100LL fuel at Reid-Hillview and San Martin, both airports within the Santa Clara area. Airport authorities note that 2 of the 4 fuel providers at Reid have already switched to Swift Fuels brand UL94, the only available unleaded aviation gasoline in the region. The remaining providers are expected to transition, with the only fuels to be sold being JetA or UL94. Those natives who wish to use the unleaded gas will require an STC beforehand. Air show season is on its way, following December’s International Council of Air Shows convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. Traditionally, the event marks the best time of the year to  book upcoming acts for the 2022 season, and the AirVenture staff has secured early commitments from a few demonstration teams that aren't the most common around. Airplane Then Began To Roll Inverted While Diving Diagonally Into The Ground

On November 23, 2021, about 1032, an experimental amateur-built Zenith Zodiac 601XL, N601KS, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident in Temecula, California. The pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. A witness, who was located in the front yard of a residence, in a new housing development, about 3 miles southeast of French Valley Airport, reported hearing a loud bang, and then looking overhead to see an airplane flying in a northwest direction. AD: Hélicoptères Guimbal Helicopters

AD 2021-22-08 Requires Establishing Life Limits And CMR Tasks For Various Parts

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Hélicoptères Guimbal (HG) Model Cabri G2 helicopters. This AD was prompted by the determination that certain parts need life limits and certification maintenance requirement (CMR) tasks. This AD requires establishing life limits and CMR tasks for various parts and removing any parts from service that have reached or exceeded their life limits. Depending on the results of the CMR tasks, this AD requires corrective action. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective January 13, 2022.
