Receives Department Of Labor Grant Worth $2.47 Million
In ceremonies at The White House in our nation’s capital, Cape Cod Community College President John Cox, and Dean Robert Cody accepted a U.S. Department of Labor workforce training grant totaling $2,471,478. The grant will enable the College to immediately accelerate its development of a unique FAA certified airplane maintenance training program on Cape Cod, meeting a critical need for highly skilled technicians in airframe and power plant repair and certification.
In 1964, Geraldine "Jerrie" Mock, an Ohio housewife, made aviation history when she became the first woman to fly solo around the world. Mock passed away at her home in Quincy, FL Tuesday at the age of 88. Her family said she had been in declining health for some time.
