Airborne 09.18.23: Reno MidAir, 1 Frecce Tricolori Down, B-25/B-29 Event

Two pilots are confirmed dead after the completion of a T-6 Gold Race as they returned to the field and collided in the process. Pilots at the site have furnished multiple reports that both aircraft collided while heading for final... with one aircraft getting its tail severed and impacting shortly thereafter, with the other continuing a short distance before going down. Airborne-NextGen 09.19.23: Remote ID Extension, AG UAV, HSVTOL Testing

In keeping with the expectations of myriad aviation industry stakeholders, the FAA announced on 13 September 2023 that it would extend the Remote ID enforcement date by six-months. Ergo, owners and operators of Radio Controlled (RC) Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)—known colloquially as drones—now have until 16 March 2024 to either retrofit extant UAS with aftermarket Remote ID broadcast modules, or purchase new standard Remote ID-equipped drones. Charted Visual Flight Procedure Approach An approach conducted while operating on an instrument flight rules (IFR) flight plan which authorizes the pilot of an aircraft to proceed visually and clear of clouds to the airport via visual landmarks and other information depicted on a charted visual flight procedure. This approach must be authorized and under the control of the appropriate air traffic control facility. Weather minimums required are depicted on the chart.
