An interesting bit of history occurred recently as an unmanned vehicle transported a human kidney that was eventually transplanted into a human being. The milestone took place last week, as the organ was delivered to a hospital via a drone and subsequently transplanted into a University of Maryland Medical Center patient -- apparently, the first time such an event has occurred. AUVSI says the FAA's proposed rules for operating sUAS over people and for safe and secure small UAS operations are too restrictive and do not consider the safety or societal benefits of the technology.
