These un-sung heroes worked day and night repairing flak damage received over France and Germany. They loaded bombs and 50 cal. ammunition so the airmen would have a chance to sally forth on many combat missions. Always looking for "their" bomber to return successfully from a mission.

A commercial electron bombardment thruster (also known as an electrostatic ion thruster) - a form ion propulsion - that is a product of Hughes Space and Communications Company, which, in 2000, became part of Boeing Satellite Systems. XIPS (pronounced "zips") employs the heavy inert gas xenon as a propellant.
