Assuming ignition takes place correctly, and there’s
sufficient fuel flow, power development depends entirely on the
amount of air available for combustion. This creates an obvious
limitation: as an airplane climbs, there’s less ambient air
available.

within the next three months on whether to go with Airbus's A350 or
the Boeing 787 on an expected 50-airplane order. Before any deal
can be finalized, however, it has to receive the blessing of the
ruling families of the UAE -- who are reportedly "furious" with
Congress over the recent ports debacle. That may spell trouble for
Boeing... and good news for Airbus.
