FAA: Reauthorized

For Better or Worse... The FAA Has A New 5-Year Lease On Life As Soon As The President Signs

It's just about done... despite years of hype, delays, attacks on basic aero-liberties and more power grabs than we can count, the FAA Reauthorization bill has passed both the House and Senate, awaiting only the president's signature to get the ball rolling. The bill passed in Senate today with a vote of 93-6, while the House version of the bill was passed, last week, by a vote of 398-23. While the bill puts aside some of the most ill-conceived and contentious issues of recent years -- most notably the horrific power grab by the airlines disguised as "ATC Privatization" championed by a few elected officials with very close relationships to the ai

Barnstorming: Throwing The Baby Out With The Bathwater…

Anti-Drone Hysteria May Kill One of Aviation’s Most Important Entry-Level Pathways

Comments/News/Commentary by ANN CEO/Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell I’m going to keep this uncharacteristically short and sweet… recent news from our less than aeronautically competent elected officials indicate that they may be on the way to doing critical and lasting damage to the future of aviation. Specifically; much (but not all) of the new language inserted into the FAA Reauthorization will restrict the freedoms model aviation has had for over 100 years. The very first foray into aviation, for many an aviation legend and most of the rest of we flyers, is about to get hindered, harmed, restricted and minimized by the very govern

Airborne 10.01.18: F-35 Down, Airshow Pilot Julie Clark, Boeing Wins T-X

Also: Airport Workers, NVG SAFO, WAI Receives Grant, TSA Perimeter Security Program

Last week was both good and bad for the F-35 program. Beaufort is the home of Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501, where training for new F-35 pilots is conducted. Journalists often over-use the word ‘iconic’ -- but the career of airshow pilot Julie Clark certainly deserves that description... especially now that we know that Ms. Clark is
