"According to preliminary information, it was not a failure of the Space Forces, but the malfunction of the apparatus, which failed in bringing the satellite to orbit." Source: Russian Federal Space Agency spokesman Vyacheslav Davidenko, explaining the cause of the failure of Saturday's launch of a European Space Agency satellite aboard a converted Russian ballistic missile. The booster stage of the rocket failed to send the CryoSat satellite into its orbit, causing it to fall into the ocean.
