Joby Aviation, builder of eVTOL aircraft, announced that it has submitted the entirety of its certification plan to the FAA, thereby occasioning the imminent completion of the third of the five stages upon which FAA certification of new aircraft types is predicated. Previously; the FAA awarded Merlin a $1-million contract for purpose of demonstrating the capabilities of its autonomous flight architecture, dubbed Merlin Pilot, under the auspices of onboard safety pilots.
