The Legislation Calls On Ligado To Reimburse Both The Public And Private Sectors

HAI has applauded the efforts of Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) for introducing the Recognizing and Ensuring Taxpayer Access to Infrastructure Necessary for GPS and Satellite Communications Act of 2021 (RETAIN Act). This legislation addresses the full extent of the cost impact of the Ligado Order, which may interfere with GPS and satellite communications systems. Helicopters conduct many critical missions, including air medical, firefighting, aerial application, and heavy – lift operations. Large-Cabin Interior Outfitting Capabilities Added To Gulfstream Dallas Facility

Gulfstream Aerospace is expanding Gulfstream G600 completions operations to the Gulfstream Dallas facility, further increasing growth and large-cabin capacity for customers. As part of this expansion, Gulfstream’s director of Savannah completions, Melissa Grant, has been named vice president and general manager of the Dallas facility and will be relocating to facilitate the seamless transition of expertise and experience.

Unique Configuration Strengthens Commercial Advanced Air Mobility Markets

The USAF has signed a contract with Electra.aero to strengthen advanced air mobility markets through the development of hybrid-electric propulsion systems for electric ultra-short takeoff and landing (eSTOL) aircraft. Leveraging distributed hybrid-electric propulsion and blown lift, Electra's unique eSTOL aircraft takes off in less than 150 feet, but also offers nearly triple the payload capacity, an order of magnitude longer ranges, and less than half the operating costs of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) alternatives.

AD: Airbus Helicopters Deutschland GmbH (AHD) Helicopters

AD 2021-12-16 Prompted By A Report Of Increased Control Force In The Collective Axis

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Airbus Helicopters Deutschland GmbH (AHD) Model MBB-BK117 C-2 and MBB-BK117 D-2 helicopters. This AD was prompted by a report of increased control force in the collective axis. This AD requires repetitive visual inspections of the main rotor actuator (MRA), as specified in a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD, which is incorporated by reference. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective August 3, 2021.

AD 2021-13-01 Prompted By Reports Of Missing Lock Wire And Loose Fasteners

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Leonardo S.p.a. (Type Certificate previously held by Agusta S.p.A.) Model AB139 and AW139 helicopters and Leonardo S.p.a. (Type Certificate previously held by AgustaWestland S.p.A.) Model AW189 helicopters. This AD was prompted by reports of missing lock wire and loose fasteners. This AD requires a one-time inspection of the main rotor (M/R) slip ring and depending on the outcome, removing the M/R slip ring from service, removing screws and washers from service, applying torque, installing lock wire, and re-identifying the M/R slip ring.
