VistaJet Revealed As Customer for Big Challenger 350 Deal

Vistajet Has Also Taken Delivery Of Its First Two Global 7500 Aircraft

Bombardier has confirmed that VistaJet is the customer for a previously disclosed firm order for 10 Challenger 350 business jets. Bombardier announced the sale involving its Challenger platform on December 23. It was one of the biggest jet orders of 2020. VistaJet has also taken delivery of its first two Global 7500 business jets. Bombardier recently celebrated the milestone 50th delivery of this aircraft. VistaJet said in a press release that its order for 10 Challenger 350 business jets is in response to “a growing and urgent demand” in the super midsize segment.

Aero-News readers know that one of the most innovative airplanes under development for the business market is the XTI TriFan 600, which was displayed for the first time at NBAA-BACE this year. The company says the six-seat TriFan 600 will have the speed, range and comfort of a business jet and the ability to take off and land vertically like a helicopter. Using three ducted fans, the aircraft will lift off vertically and its two wing fans rotate forward for a seamless transition to cruise speed, at 400 miles an hour and a range of up to 1,600 miles.

Textron recorded the delivery of the 600th aircraft from the Cessna Citation CJ3 family this week. The milestone Cessna Citation CJ3+ was delivered to an unnamed customer in North America. “Since joining the Citation family, the Citation CJ3 series has proven to be an incredible performer for customers around the world with the connectivity, price, range and efficient operation that puts it at the top of its category,” said Lannie O’Bannion, senior vice president, Global Sales and Flight Operations.

AD: Rockwell Collins, Inc., Global Positioning Systems

AD 2021-08-07 Prompted By An Un-Annunciated GPS Position Error

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Rockwell Collins, Inc. (Rockwell Collins), GPS-4000S Global Positioning Systems (GPS) installed on airplanes. This AD was prompted by an un-annunciated GPS position error, which could cause a misleading localizer performance with vertical guidance (LPV) glidepath, resulting in controlled flight into terrain (CFIT). This AD requires upgrading the GPS-4000S. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective May 12, 2021.
