AD: Leonardo S.p.a. Helicopters

AD 2021-22-05 Requires Repetitive Inspections Of Affected Torque Tube Assemblies

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Leonardo S.p.a. Model A119 and AW119 MKII  helicopters. This AD was prompted by reports of abnormal play on the collective torque tube on two Model AW119 MKII helicopters. This AD requires repetitive inspections of affected torque tube assemblies for any deficiency and corrective action if necessary; and the replacement of any affected part with a serviceable part, which is terminating action for the repetitive inspections, as specified in a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD, which is incorporated by reference. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

Diamond and QinetiQ Sign Purchase Agreement For 2 DA62 MPPs

Aircraft Can Stay Airborne For Up To Eight Hours

QinetiQ GmbH has placed an order for two DA62 MPP multi-purpose platforms. The aircraft will support QinetiQ’s delivery of training and reconnaissance missions, thanks to the extended period of time that the aircraft will be able to spend in the air. Volker Wallrodt, Managing Director QinetiQ GmbH said, “We have signed the contract with Diamond Aircraft for the purchase of 2 DA62 MPP aircraft to expand the capabilities of our fleet and further develop our aerial services for the benefit of our customers.”
