Gogo Announces 5G Speeds

In-Flight Average of ~25 Mbps, 80 Mbps Peak 

Gogo has released its speed expectations for the newest Gogo 5G network, saying the average of 25 mbps is expected, with peak speeds near 80 mbps. With rollout of their 5G coverage continuing this year, users will see improved performance on the Avance network, enjoying 4G performance nationwide, with increasing next-gen coverage. Speeds were evaluated and averaged across eight of Gogo’s high-priority, frequently traveled routes. New York, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Dallas all showed strong network performance and nearly terrestrial broadband speeds.

Maritime Search and Rescue Sensor Pod Tested for Patrol Duties

Diamond Special Mission Aircraft Division (SMAD), where the distinctive Austrian manufacturer creates its special-sauce versions of ordinary GA airplanes, underwent live demonstration of a new sensor system equipped on their twin engine DA42 MPP. Working alongside Australian company Sentient Vision Systems, Diamond has installed a prototype Visual Detection and Ranging (ViDAR) pod, a Trakka Electro-Optic/Infrared (EO/IR) gimbal, and an AIS receiver. The total package is hoped to become a high endurance, affordable, maritime patrol aircraft.

Modern Aviation Acquires FBO At Isla Grande, PR

Acquires Hill Aviation, Operations at San Juan and Ceiba, Puerto Rico

Modern Aviation has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Hill Aviation, LLC, including the FBO and MRO operations at Fernando Luis Ribas Dominicci Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, along with a satellite FBO location at Jose Aponte de la Torre Airport in Ceiba. Buying the operations from Tommy Hill and VRM companies, Modern has no plans to change Propilot aircraft management and charter businesses at its San Juan location, Isla Grande Airport.
