Verizon Uses Drones For Cell Site Inspections In The Carolinas Post-Matthew

First Aerial Survey Speeds Cell Site Recovery To Just Hours

Verizon made use of drones to help with cell site inspections from the air in North Carolina and South Carolina to survey areas impacted by severe flooding from Hurricane Matthew. The quadcopter used for the inspections is an unmanned aerial system (UAS) operated by Measure UAS Inc., to inspect cell sites in difficult to reach locations and share vital information on any damaged equipment.

Investigation Of Accident In Kelowna Which Fatally Injured Former Alberta Premier Jim Prentice Will Be Challenging, Board Says

A Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) team is currently in the Field phase of the investigation into the October 13, 2016 accident involving a Cessna Citation north of Kelowna, British Columbia. Current activities are focused on the collection of information from the accident site and various other sources. However, the absence of a Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) or a Flight Data Recorder (FDR) will make this investigation particularly challenging, the board said.

Rwandan President Paul Kagame recently launched the world’s first national drone delivery service during a ceremony in the country’s centrally located Muhanga District. The Rwandan government will begin using drones to make up to 150 on-demand, emergency deliveries per day of life-saving blood to 21 transfusing facilities located in the western half of the country.
