Awardees To Be Recognized At Heli-Expo In March

The Helicopter Association International (HAI) on Thursday announced the winners of its acclaimed Salute to Excellence Awards in nine categories. They include, among others, two helicopter search-and-rescue (SAR) teams, a firefighting pilot who refused to give up on a crew on the ground, and a flight instructor with perhaps more time in one of the world’s most popular training helicopters than anyone else in the world.

160 Aircraft Will Be Provided To Russian Oil Company By 2025

Following an agreement signed on December 29, AgustaWestland will provide 160 AW189 civil helicopters to the oil company Rosneft by 2025. The supply will be provided mainly through HeliVert, a joint venture between Finmeccanica-AgustaWestland and Russian Helicopters (a subsidiary of the corporation Rostec).

New Pilot Positions At NetJets Draw More Than 1,000 Qualified Candidates

Private Aviation Company To Hire Nearly 200 New Pilots And 50 Flight Attendants In 2015

NetJets has opened 187 new pilot positions and up to 50 new flight attendant positions to be filled throughout 2015. And there appears to be a lot of demand for the jobs. In the days since the announcement, NetJets has received more than 1,000 resumes from qualified pilots and about 200 from flight attendant candidates. The first group of new pilot hires is expected to start on-site training in the first quarter of the year.

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced its support of the new UAS safety campaign, “Know Before You Fly” during the 2015 International CES. The effort is being spearheaded by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and the Small UAV Coalition in partnership with the FAA.

Canadian TSB Releases Report From August, 2013 Helicopter Accident

Finds Manufacturing Anomalies Led To Engine Power Loss Near Bella Coola, British Columbia

In its investigation report (A13P0163) released Wednesday, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) found that a Kamov Ka-32 helicopter operated by VIH Helicopters Ltd. suffered an engine power loss due to anomalies in engine components that were not detected by quality control during engine manufacture and assembly.
