MAF is on site in Medan on the island of Sumatra responding to the overwhelming disaster. Hardest hit by the earthquake and tsunami, most of the northern province of Aceh has been leveled. Most bridges and roads have been obliterated; communications are wiped out in the affected area.

Medical Helo Down In Potomac

Two Lost, One Survives

Authorities in and around the nation's capital continued searching Tuesday for the body of a crewmember lost when a medical helicopter went down in the Potomac River, near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. The aircraft, crashed late Monday night after a witness said the EC-135 was flying unusually low and may have hit something just before going down.

Lockheed Martin Team Selected To Compete For AWIPS

Contract valued As High As $330 Million Over 10 Years

Lockheed Martin says its team was selected by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS) to compete in the next phase of the Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS). The AWIPS contract award is expected in July 2005 and will be worth an estimated $330 million over a 10-year period.

AD NUMBER: 2005-01-14 MANUFACTURER: Bombardier-Rotax SUBJECT: Airworthiness Directive 2005-01-14 SUMMARY: The FAA is superseding an existing airworthiness directive (AD) for Bombardier-Rotax GmbHType 912 F, 912 S, and 914 F series reciprocating engines. That AD currently requires venting of the lubrication system and inspection of the valve train on all engines. That AD also requires venting of the lubrication system of all engines on which the lubrication system has been opened, and any engine on which the propeller has been rotated one full turn in the wrong direction.
