As the 10th anniversary of September 11th approaches, the
world's largest Flight Attendant union, the Association of Flight
Attendants-CWA (AFA), reminds the public that the story of 9/11
cannot be told without recognizing the Flight Attendant heroes and
the role they played as first responders. At the same time, AFA is
focused on providing members with support, resources and a forum
for remembering their flying partners who perished in the line of
duty and for relating their own experiences
If you're looking for a deal on a well-maintained Boeing 717,
you may be in luck. More than half the 717s in the world are
looking for new homes. Southwest Airlines, which is known for its
all-737 fleet, inherited more than 80 of the smaller 717's in its
acquisition of AirTran, and now says they'll be phased out.
"Turndown Service" Includes Such Items As Quilts, Slippers, And
PJs
If you've been pining away for the "golden age" of air travel,
American Airlines has introduced a new "Turndown Service" for first
class passengers on some of its international routes.The airline
says the product additions are designed with the customer's comfort
and convenience in mind and will roll out on select international
flights in First and Business Class cabins beginning Sept. 1.
Attorney Says He Was "Relieved of Duty for Refusing to Endanger
Lives in Severe Weather"
An Atlantic Southeast Airlines pilot has filed a lawsuit against
codeshare partner Continental Express claiming retaliation against
him and ruin of his professional reputation. The suit claims the
pilot was targeted because he took precautionary action during
severe weather conditions, costing the company money. In the filing
the pilot alleges the airline used his pursuit of treatment for
depression during a divorce years before as reasoning for grounding
him.
A low-key ceremony was held Wednesday in Cerritos, CA on the
25th anniversary of a mid-air collision which played a role in
changing the way we fly in controlled airspace.
