FLYHT And L3Harris Extend Agreement For SATCOM Products On The A220

Will Customize AFIRS 228S For The Aircraft

FLYHT announced L3Harris Technologies has extended its partnership and agreement to provide custom engineering services used in global voice and data satellite communication (SATCOM) solutions. Specifically, FLYHT will customize L3Harris AFIRS 228S (Automated Flight Information Recording System) to support global communications between pilots and Air Traffic Control (ATC), Aeronautical Operation control (AOC) and Airline Administrative Control (AAC) through the Iridium high-fidelity satellite network used in the cockpit of the Airbus A220.

Replaces Jamie Hill, Who Is Moving To United Airlines

ExpressJet Airlines, a United Express carrier, has named Bruce Jones to the position of vice president of Maintenance and Engineering. Jones will be responsible for ExpressJet's aircraft maintenance program that encompasses a fleet of more than 100 Embraer aircraft supported by 750 professionals in eight locations. He will replace Jamie Hill who is advancing to a leadership role at United Airlines.

Airbus Begins U.S. Production Of A220 Aircraft

First Domestically-Manufactured A220 Will Be Delivered To Delta Airlines In 2020

Airbus has officially begun manufacturing the A220 in the U.S. The first team of A220 production workers began work at Airbus’ Mobile, Alabama-based production facility following their recent return from on-the-job training in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada, where the A220 program and primary final assembly line are located.
