Boeing announced Tuesday at the Moscow Air Show that it has
signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) to cooperate toward
increasing the efficiency and capacity of leading Russian airports.
Boeing will work with the Basel Aero Company, operator of Sochi
Airport in Basel and with Moscow State University of Geodesy and
Cartography.
Carrier Expands Its Boeing 777 Fleet To 39 Airplanes
A firm order for six 777-300 Extended Range (ER) airplanes has
been finalized between Boeing and Thai Airways International
(THAI). The order completes an agreement to purchase Boeing
777-300ERs announced during the Paris Air Show in June. At list
prices, the order is valued at $1.7 billion.
ARINC Selected To Validate VDL Mode 2 Avionics Under 2013
Mandate
The contract to provide Eurocontrol with a test system to
validate the functioning of VDL Mode 2 (VDL2) avionics in a
multi-frequency environment has been awarded to Annapolis, MD-based
ARINC Incorporated. ARINC’s validation system will be
installed in a new laboratory at the Eurocontrol Experimental
Center (EEC) in Bretigny, France, the same location where ARINC
installed a VDL2 testbed in 2004 for Eurocontrol under the Link2000
Program..
Real-Time Communication With Pilots As Important As
E-Charts
Delta Airlines has started testing the Apple iPad for use as an
electronic flight bag, providing 22 of the devices to its pilots
for experimenting during flights. The company wants to see if the
iPads allow it to keep in better contact with pilots in real
time.
