Air Transport Association Reports Sharpest Decline In A Decade

Passenger Demand, Cargo Traffic Show Steep Drops From June 2008

The Air Transport Association of America (ATA), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, reports that passenger revenue fell 26 percent in June 2009 versus the same month in 2008 - the eighth consecutive month in which passenger revenue has fallen from the prior year.

First Flight Expected In November

Final assembly of Airbus' first A330-200F is well underway as the new-generation cargo jetliner is readied for its maiden flight in November. This aircraft began an on-time build-up in June, which has included the mating of its fuselage sections, wing and horizontal/vertical tail, as well as installation of the main and nose landing gear.

SUBJECT: Airworthiness Directive 2009-15-07 SUMMARY: In 2005 a lateral runway excursion occurred on an A320 aircraft. Such excursions are classified as hazardous, with a large reduction in safety margins. Investigation has shown that the aircraft landed with the nose wheels rotated nearly 20 degrees from center.

SUBJECT: Airworthiness Directive 2009-11-12 SUMMARY: The FAA is superseding an existing airworthiness directive (AD), which applies to certain Airbus Model A310 series airplanes. This new AD reduces the intervals for accomplishing repetitive inspections in a certain area.

MANUFACTURER: Airbus Model A330-301, -321, -322, -341, and -342 Series Airplanes, and Airbus Model A340-211, -212, -213, -311, -312, and -313 Series Airplanes SUMMARY: During accomplishment of A330-300 Airworthiness Limitation Item (ALI) task 57.11.04-01-02 of a fastener hole between stringer 38 and 39 at FR40 rear fitting web, a crack was found on an adjacent hole at vertical post Y1959 lower attachment on both sides.
