Boeing has logged 10 more orders for its 737-800, as Irish
low-cost carrier Ryanair recently exercised some of its purchase
options on a previous contract to add to its all-737 fleet.
European Consortium To Become Full Owner Of Airbus
A third-party banking firm called in to settle the pricing
dispute betweeen EADS and Britian's BAE Systems over the European
consortium's buyout of BAE's stake in Airbus has agreed on a final
pricetag... but it may not be enough to convice shareholders to
sell.
On Friday, pilots at Southwest Airlines -- the most profitable
US carrier -- voted to reject the airline's offer of a one-year
contract extension, in favor of starting negotiations on a new pay
deal.
The drama surrounding the leadership of both Airbus and its
parent company EADS came to a head over the weekend, as EADS co-CEO
Noel Forgeard and Airbus chief Gustav Humbert -- both embroiled in
scandal over delays in the A380 project -- both quit.
Australia's number-two carrier, Virgin Blue, is moving closer to
obtaining routes from down under to the US. The Australian
newspaper reports the carrier has issued an RFP (Request For
Proposals) to both Boeing and Airbus... asking for information on
up to five long-haul aircraft.
