Boeing -- along with Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI) -- told ANN
Friday that major assembly has begun on the first 787 Dreamliner
airframe. FHI began to assemble the center wing section at its new
factory in Handa, Japan, near Nagoya.
Earlier this week, JetBlue Airways went on record as being
against the Wright Amendment deal reached last month between the
cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, TX, Southwest Airlines, and
American Airlines over the future of flights from Dallas Love
Field. On Thursday, founder and CEO David Neeleman upped the
ante... by asking lawmakers to block the agreement.
With the 10th anniversary of the crash of TWA Flight 800
approaching, last week the National Transportation Safety Board
released a fact sheet that reviews lessons learned from the
accident investigation... and the progress toward ensuring that
similar tragedies do not happen in the future.
In its Monthly Operating Report for May 2006 filed with the US
Bankruptcy Court Thursday, Delta Air Lines reported it lost
considerably less money this year than for the same period in 2005
-- even taking into account costs associated with the airline's
Chapter 11 reorganization.
Most airline pilots and flight attendants have horror
stories about some of the hotel rooms they've had to stay in while
on layover between flights... but this just might be the worst one
ever, if it's true.
