I believe it's fair to say Delta Air Lines has invited a certain
cynicism upon itself, related to its conduct over the past several
years, and on through the current bankruptcy proceedings... which
is why it's tough for me to look at the headline that appeared in
the St. Petersburg Times this week -- "Clean for pride, not pay,
Delta asks staff" -- without a callous eye.
As of yet, the FAA hasn't responded -- at least publicly --
to a request made earlier this week by NATCA to resume
negotiations. On Friday, NATCA released the following letter from
union president John Carr, which the union said was delivered
to FAA Administrator Blakey via courier.
Last Commercial Plane Built In Southern California
In an emotional, informal ceremony Thursday at the Boeing --
formerly Douglas Aircraft -- Long Beach, CA plant, workers gathered
before dawn to watch as the last commercial plane likely to be
built at the facility was towed across Lakewood Boulevard to Long
Beach Airport.
Next Gen Order Tally Now Exceeds Sales Of Classic Series
On Thursday, Boeing and Southwest Airlines announced the Dallas,
TX-based low cost airline converted options for 79 Next-Generation
737-700s into orders, bringing the airline's total past and future
Boeing orders for 737-700s to 370 airplanes.
