Conducts Two All-Female Intercontinental Flights On International Women's Day
Air Canada marked International Women's Day 2018 last week by operating two intercontinental flights from its global Toronto hub across both the Atlantic and Pacific with all female pilots and flight attendants. The flights were additionally supported by female ground crews providing aircraft servicing, loading, dispatch, pushback functions, customer boarding and more. In a speech delivered at CANSO’s Sixth World Air Traffic Management (ATM) Congress in Madrid, Spain last week, ICAO Council President Dr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu told the gathered experts and leaders that airspace design and management would be changing dramatically in the years ahead “as more and more aircraft enter into service which fly higher, lower, faster, and much slower than those we manage today.”
Aircraft Was Attempting To Land In The Wrong Direction At Tribhuvan Airport
A airliner carrying 71 passengers and crew impacted terrain on approach to Kathmandu's Tribhuvan Airport in Nepal on Monday. Media reports say that at least 49 people were fatally injured when the plane went down and caught fire.
Boeing and Turkish Airlines have finalized a firm order for 25 787-9 Dreamliners with options for five more airplanes. The firm order will allow Turkey's flag carrier to further meet the growing demand at its home airport, Istanbul's third airport, and improve the flying experience for passengers.
