Hires Outside Expert To Review Maintenance Procedures
The fallout continues to mount from the reported failure on the
part of Southwest Airlines to inspect some of its oldest 737s for
structural fatigue issues. On Wednesday, the Dallas-based low cost
carrier grounded as many as 42 of its aircraft, due to concerns
about such problems.

Foundation of NAV Canada's Nationwide Deployment Of ADS-B
Sensis Corporation announced Wednesday that NAV CANADA has
expanded its contract for Sensis Automatic Dependent Surveillance -
Broadcast (ADS-B) ground-based transceivers to include deployment
along the Labrador and Baffin Island coasts of Canada for enhanced
surveillance of trans-Atlantic air traffic.
Aircraft lease and financing company CIT Group Inc. announced
this week CIT Aerospace, a unit of CIT, has signed contracts with
Airbus for 20 new aircraft (15 A320 family aircraft and five A330
aircraft) worth approximately $1.9 billion at list prices.
Provides Voice Communications And Data Link Operations
Wilmington, OH-based cargo airline ABX Air was recently granted
an FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for Wingspeed
Corporation’s XLLink Flight Information Architecture (XFIA).
In late 2007, ABX Air selected Wingspeed’s XFIA system and
XLLink network services to provide voice and data communications on
13 of their 767-200 SF charter aircraft.
The folks at AIR, Inc. tell ANN airlines added an additional
1,038 pilots in February, bringing the year-to-date total 2,151 --
an increase of 393 pilots from this time last year.
