Snow Job? US Airports Receive FAA Bucks To Fight Winter Weather

FAA Has Awarded More Than $76.2 Million In Fiscal Year (FY) 2022

With winter already in full swing across perts of America, 85 airports in 28 states will be better prepared to keep airport operations running safely and smoothly. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration has awarded more than $76.2 million in Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 for snowplows, de-icing equipment, and new or upgraded buildings to store this equipment. “We can’t let winter weather stop aircraft from safely landing and taking off. This funding will help keep airports operating this winter and get passengers and cargo to their work, families and vacations safely,” said Associate Administrator for Airports Shannetta Griff

United Opens In-House AMT Pipeline

First of 12 Locations Opens with Expected Throughput of 1,000 Students Per Year

United Airlines announced the launch of Calibrate, an in-house apprenticeship program aimed at building a pipeline of AMTs for the company. The inaugural class starts in Houston, Texas, where United Airlines expects to run the first of a dozen locations by 2026. Much like their flight academy, diversify stands front and center in their recruiting efforts, with half of the school's future AMT students being women or traditionally underrepresented minorities. The Calibrate program is a 36-month, paid, full-time certification and training process.
