The Evergreen International Airlines (EIA) Master Executive
Council (MEC) has started seeding a media war threatening a strike
ballot of its membership, "to be prepared for all possible
contingencies should negotiations fail." According to a recent ALPA
missive, EIA crewmembers (repped by ALPA), have been negotiating
with their management for a new contract for over six years. Pilots
are nearing their limit of frustration and dissatisfaction with
management even 'as they continue to provide exemplary professional
service that sustains the viability of the airline and ensures
customer satisfaction.'
Yet Another Delay For Boeing's Most Ambitious New Airframe
Just after the close of business on Wednesday (ET) , as most of
the media was heading off to start various Turkey-oriented
pursuits, Boeing admitted that it is developing minor design
changes to power distribution panels on the 787 and updates to the
systems software that manages and protects power distribution on
the airplane. These changes come as the result of what has been
learned from the investigation of an onboard electrical fire on a
test airplane, ZA002, earlier this month in Laredo, Texas.
New Facility Twice As Big As The Existing Building
The FAA dedicated a new, state-of-the-art fire station at Los
Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Moneay which was funded by
nearly $11 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act.
Iris Recognition An Option For Airport Security, Company
Says
A California company says it can offer an alternative to TSA's
"enhanced" pat down searches and body scanners which have come
under fire for what many say is their intrusiveness. AOptix
Technologies suggests the use of iris recognition to authenticate
passengers and secure air travel.
