Pinnacle Flight Attendants Ratify New Contract

Pact Covers More Than 870 FAs Represented By The United Steel Workers

Flight attendants represented by United Steelworkers (USW) Local 772 have ratified a five-year contract with Pinnacle Airlines. The contract replaces an agreement that became amendable on Jan. 31, 2011. It covers more than 870 USW-represented flight attendants who work out of Atlanta, Detroit, New York (JFK), Memphis and Minneapolis.

Virgin America FAs Petition For Union Representation

Would Be Represented By Transport Workers Of America

A majority of flight attendants at Virgin America has filed a petition at the National Mediation Board (NMB) seeking union representation with the Transport Workers Union of America (TWU). “Work rules are inconsistently enforced, promises regarding rest, vacation and benefits are often broken, and discipline for minor violations can be unnecessarily harsh and inconsistently applied,” TWU Organizing Director Frank MacCann said in a news release.

Mesaba Moves From Minnesota To Memphis

Nearly 200 Jobs Lost At Eagan HQ

After its purchase by Pinnacle Airlines last year, regional carrier Mesaba Airlines announced that it will be permanently closing its headquarters in Eagan, MN south of St. Paul and moving to Memphis, TN. The move is expected to come right after Christmas, and cost 193 people their jobs. Just over 600 will remain employed by the airline in Minnesota.

Boeing Deliveries Of 777-300ER Pass 300

Order Book For The Long-Range Airliner At Near Record Levels

On October 21st, Boeing surpassed 300 deliveries of its 777-300ER. The milestone airplane was taken by first-time customer Biman Bangladesh. As of Sept. 30, 2011, the 777-300ER has 543 orders; the 777 program (all models) has received a total of 1,288 orders and the program has a backlog of 325 orders.

PSA Pilots Enter Into Federal Mediated Talks

Pilots Hopeful Government Intervention Will Jumpstart Contract Negotiations

The pilots of PSA Airlines, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), took the next step toward reaching a new contract with senior management on Monday by meeting with a federal mediator from the National Mediation Board (NMB). PSA pilots, who fly regional aircraft under the US Airways Express brand, have been in direct contract negotiations with their management since June 2009.
