Airborne-Unmanned 09.03.19: Stratospheric HiDRON, Pilot Fine, Restrictions Eased

UAVOS and Stratodynamics have have conducted a flight of the HiDRON stratospheric glider to a new altitude of 98,450 feet breaking their previous 82,000 feet record. From the start of the HIDRON until its landing in an automatic mode, the flight was conducted in a beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) mode. All went according to the plan with the UAVOS ground crew lifted HiDRON by a balloon to the 30 km target altitude and released in -76° F stratospheric winds. Following an investigation of two incidents in downtown Toronto, Transport Canada has issued Notices of Assessment of Monetary Penalties to an individual for 11 violations of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARS) related to the operatio
