Congress once again came right down to the wire, voting on a bill that would continue to authorize spending on the FAA at current levels for the next six months. The current continuing resolution expires Saturday. After being beaten back by Democrats earlier this week on an extension, the House passed a bill Thursday that does not have any spinoff of ATC included, but does include additional hurricane relief for people affected by Harvey, Irma and Maria. It also included additional flood insurance and health care provisions that Democrats objected to in the earlier bill that was defeated on Monday. Helicopter Used To Test Radar To Be Flown To Jupiter's Icy Moons

JUICE Spacecraft Scheduled For Launch In 2022

A long radar boom that will probe below the surface of Jupiter’s icy moons has been tested on Earth with the help of a helicopter. ESA’s Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer, Juice, is scheduled for launch in 2022, arriving seven years later. It will study Jupiter’s turbulent atmosphere and vast magnetic fields, as well as the planet-sized moons Ganymede, Europa and Callisto. All three moons are thought to have oceans of liquid water beneath their icy crusts and should provide key clues on the potential for such bodies to harbour habitable environments.
