2,500-mile ferry flight from Edwards Air Force Base, CA.
Each School Could Receive $5 Million Over As Many As Five
Years
NASA has selected six universities that serve large numbers of
minority and underrepresented students to receive research grants
totaling nearly $30 million. The funding will help the universities
establish significant, multi-disciplinary scientific, engineering
and commercial research centers that contribute to NASA
programs.
Johnson Space Center Offering One- To Three-Year
Fellowships
Applications are being solicited for the NASA Postdoctoral
Program at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. The Human
Adaptation and Countermeasures Division of the JSC Space Life
Sciences Directorate offers unique research opportunities in the
areas of skeletal health, nutrition, and radiation and biological
systems.
First Mapping Orbit Marks Start Of A One-Year Mission
NASA reported Thursday that its Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, or
LRO, has successfully completed its testing and calibration phase
and entered its mapping orbit of the moon. The spacecraft already
has made significant progress toward creating the most detailed
atlas of the moon's south pole to date.
