Airborne 08.15.14: Bearhawk LSA, Legacy 500 Cert, BIG Pilatus Order

Bearhawk owner Mark Goldberg has completed the first Bearhawk LSA quick-build kit. Goldberg’s aircraft was present at AirVenture-Oshkosh this year. His Bearhawk LSA was readily identified by its bright red and silver Oratex covering. Goldberg’s Bearhawk LSA completed the journey from Texas to Oshkosh in 9.7 hours of flight time. Cruise speeds during the flight varied from 98 miles per hour burning 4.5 gallons per hour to 118 miles per hour using 6 gallons per hour. The Brazilian Civil Aviation Agency has granted type certification for the Legacy 500 executive jet. Embraer expects to receive certification from the FAA in the upcoming weeks and certification

XCOR Aerospace presented its XCOR Lynx spacecraft full scale model as part of the Gordon McCall’s Motorworks Revival 2014, at the Monterey Jet Center Wednesday. Dubbed a “Space Corvette” by Popular Mechanics, Lynx is a two-seat, fully reusable spaceplane designed to rocket XCOR customers to the edge of space in five minutes.
