The FAA has grounded Cessna Citation business jets equipped with the Tamarack ‘ATLAS’ active winglet system, stating that, “An unsafe condition exists that requires the immediate adoption of this AD.” According to the AD, “...the active load alleviation system (ATLAS), when operational, deflects the Tamarack active control surfaces (TACS) on the outboard wings. Recently, occurrences have been reported in which ATLAS appears to have malfunctioned, causing upset events where, in some cases, the pilots had difficulty to recover the aeroplane to safe flight. Investigation continues to determine the cause(s) for the reported events. This condition

U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced today that James Smalley, 41, of Penn Yan, NY, was arrested and charged by criminal complaint with falsifying inspection reports for space parts. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Will Be Launched Next Month Aboard A SpaceX Falcon Heavy Rocket

The Ball Aerospace-built small spacecraft for NASA's Green Propellant Infusion Mission (GPIM) has arrived in Florida to prepare for a June launch on board a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket. GPIM is NASA's first opportunity to demonstrate a new "green" propellant and propulsion system in orbit – an alternative to conventional chemical propulsion systems.

Agreement Will Cover Earth Observation, Space Exploration, And Future Growth Opportunities

Airbus and the Hellenic Space Agency have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) covering future space cooperation. The MOU will focus on Earth observation, space exploration and future growth opportunities including software research and space. Established in 2018, the Hellenic Space Agency (HSA) is Greece’s national body responsible for space and is part of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks.

Scheduled For Launch As Early As July 2020

Although it will be years before the first humans set foot on Mars, NASA is giving the public an opportunity to send their names — etched on microchips — to the Red Planet with NASA's Mars 2020 rover, which represents the initial leg of humanity's first round trip to another planet. The rover is scheduled to launch as early as July 2020, with the spacecraft expected to touch down on Mars in February 2021.
