The FAA is implementing changes for recreational drone flyers. While recreational flyers may continue to fly below 400 feet in uncontrolled airspace without specific certification or operating authority from the FAA, they are now required to obtain prior authorization from the FAA before flying in controlled airspace around airports. The new requirement to obtain an airspace authorization prior to flying a drone in controlled airspace replaces the old requirement to notify the airport operator and the airport air traffic control tower prior to flying within five miles of an airport. AIAA Foundation Announces $1 Million Commitment From Boeing

Donation Will Support Diversification Of The STEM Talent Pipeline

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Foundation and Boeing has announced a $1 million donation from the Boeing Charitable Trust. The donation will support the Foundation's educational fund, with a focus on increasing the number of women and minority students in science and engineering programs. AIAA will also match the gift through its Match A Million Campaign.

Will Study And Develop Prototypes Over The Next Six Months

NASA has selected 11 companies to conduct studies and produce prototypes of human landers for its Artemis lunar exploration program. This effort will help put American astronauts — the first woman and next man — on the Moon’s south pole by 2024 and establish sustainable missions by 2028.
