Spirit, Opportunity Rovers Completed Original Missions In

A patch of Martian soil analyzed by NASA's rover Spirit is so
rich in silica it may provide some of the strongest evidence yet
that ancient Mars was much wetter than it is now. The processes
that could have produced such a concentrated deposit of silica
require the presence of water.
The Aerospace Industries Association tells ANN a team from
Memorial High School in Newark, CA won the Team America Rocketry
Challenge Saturday, beating out 99 other squads with a near-perfect
score.

Aero-News learned this week Dan Dumbacher has been named head of
the Engineering Directorate at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center
in Huntsville, AL. He replaces Michael Rudolphi, who retired in
March.

NASA dedicated a unique astronomy aircraft Monday to pioneering
aviator Charles Lindbergh on the 80th anniversary of his historic
transatlantic flight. Erik Lindbergh, the pilot's grandson, joined
NASA for the event May 21, in Waco, TX.
Aero-News learned Monday the American Institute of Aeronautics
and Astronautics (AIAA) will designate Australia's Woomera Test
Facility as a Historic Aerospace Site.
