President-elect Donald Trump has tapped Elaine Chao, the former Labor Secretary, to be the Secretary of Transportation in his administration. Chao is the wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Prior to taking the Labor Department post, Chao was deputy secretary of transportation under the second President Bush. Trio Avionics, longtime manufacturer of autopilots for the Experimental-Amateur-Built aircraft market, is working with the FAA and a team of industry leaders to develop a supplemental type certificate for its Pro Pilot Autopilot in the Cessna 172 and 182, with other type certificated, production models to follow.
