The FAA has posted a proposed Airworthiness Directive for Boeing's 787-8 Dreamliner after reports of numerous failures of the proximity sensor within the slat skew detection mechanism assembly, referred to as the DMA. The slats are a component of the leading edge devices that allow a lower approach and landing speed.
