Late Pilot Named To North Dakota Aviation Hall Of Fame

Gerry Beck Lost In July 2007 Accident At AirVenture

The North Dakota Aviation Hall of Fame has added to its ranks, selecting the late Gerry Beck as the newest member.

As ANN reported, Beck was killed July 27, when his P-51A touched wingtips with a second aircraft on landing, following a simulated air race demonstration at AirVenture 2007. Beck, known worldwide for restoring vintage aircraft, had built the accident aircraft himself.

The late aviator's business, Tri-State Aviation in Wahpeton, started out as a crop-dusting operation... and in fact, some of Beck's aerial application advancements continue to be used by other cropdusters.

Beck also helped create the Fargo Air Museum, which displayed some of the planes he built, reports The Fargo-Moorhead Forum.

The Hall Of Fame will officially honor Beck during the North Dakota Aviation Council's Upper Midwest Aviation Symposium in March.
