Astronics Max-Viz-1500 STC Expanded

Available On King Air Video-Capable Multi Function Displays

Astronics Corporation received an amended STC greatly expanding the number of Beechcraft King Air aircraft that can be equipped with the Astronics Max-Viz-1500 enhanced vision system to include all King Air models equipped with any video-capable multi function display. The Astronics Max-Viz-1500 Enhanced Vision System permits pilots to see clearly at night and up to eight to 10 times farther than the unaided human eye in many conditions of obscured visibility. The system is on display at the NBAA's 65th Annual Meeting and Convention being held in Orlando, FL.

“With this expanded STC, the Astronics Max-Viz-1500 Enhanced Vision System can now be part of every King Air cockpit that flies with a video-capable MFD," said Astronics Chief Executive Officer Peter J. Gundermann. "By deploying this life-saving safety system on King Air aircraft, Hawker Beechcraft is giving many more owners and operators an opportunity to fly safer with the latest in dependable real-time imagery.”

The amended FAA STC expands the number of Max-Viz-1500 video-capable Multi Function Displays  to include Garmin’s G500, G600 and G1000, Avidyne’s Entegra Release 9, Universal Avionics’ 890R, and any other video-capable MFD.  In addition, King Airs with video-capable electronic flight bags are compatible with Astronics Max-Viz-1500. Previously, the Astronics Max-Viz-1500 was only available on King Airs equipped with Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics. Hawker Beechcraft Global Customer Support is the exclusive provider of the Astronics Max-Viz-1500 for installation on Beechcraft King Air B200, B300 and C90 series aircraft.

The Astronics Max-Viz EVS product line combines infrared and visible imagery, providing pilots real-time display for increased visibility in adverse weather conditions, such as darkness, precipitation, fog, dust and smoke.

Benefits of the Astronics Max-Viz Enhanced Vision System include:

  • See and Avoid Runway/Taxiway Incursions
  • Instant Awareness of Airport Surface Traffic on Approach
  • Unambiguous Runway Identification
  • Taxiway Edges and Sign Clarity
  • Avoid Parking Ramp Clutter
  • Augment TAWS Display with Clear Visual Picture of Terrain
  • Avoid Nighttime Cloud Buildups for Smoother Flight
  • Avoid Inadvertent Flight into IMC
  • Avoid Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT)
  • Visual Clarity Through Smoke and Haze

Astronics Max-Viz enhanced vision systems are designed for turbine and piston fixed and rotary wing aircraft. The systems use infrared sensors, signal processing, and advanced cockpit display to show terrain, runways, taxiways, aircraft and obstacles in poor visibility conditions including light fog, haze, smoke, brown/whiteout, light precipitation and darkness.
