Aero-TV At I/ITSEC 2008: Sim Technology Advances

I/ITSEC 2008: Almost Like The Real Thing...

The largest exhibition of modeling and simulation technology in history was held just a few weeks ago Orlando from December 1-4, 2008.

Thanks to the able guidance of the folks of I/ITSEC, especially their John Williams, the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference, Aero-TV got another good long look at some of the impressive simulation and training technologies being brought to our defense by military training operations.

The event, known as the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference, (I/ITSEC) occupies  nearly 200,000 square feet of exhibition space at the cavernous Orange County Convention Center. More than 575 exhibitors, including government, research, academic, industry and military participants, display all facets of modeling and simulation -- live, virtual and constructive.

Virtual reality and totally immersive environments were prominently featured in hundreds of exhibitor areas. Applications on display will include immersive environments for cultural and language training, predictive simulations for weather phenomena, structural failure analysis and other complex predictive applications.

Additionally, virtual medical environments for military and first responder training were featured, along with a series of special events focusing on the future of medical simulation technology.

I/ITSEC 2008 also featured a serious games competition, with 12 entries from around the world, gaming everything from search and rescue training to historical scenarios.

In 2007, almost 20,000 attendees from 50 countries crowded the exhibition hall floor and Aero-Tv shot over a dozen features there on the floor...
