Sonex Aircraft, LLC tells ANN that they have completed the sale of Sonex Plans Serial Number 1,000, marking a significant milestone for the young kit aircraft company. Rick Cavett of Ridgeland, Mississippi recently purchased a Sonex Complete Airframe Kit and was issued Plans number 1,000. Cavett is an instrument-rated private pilot with over 250 hours of flight time. The Sonex will be his first homebuilt aircraft project and he chose the Sonex, instead of plans-building a competitor’s aircraft, because of the ease of building offered by the Sonex Complete Airframe Kit plus the lower cost compared to other kits of comparable performance.

Sonex Aircraft, LLC began selling plans for its all-metal, low-wing Sonex sport plane in 1998. The aircraft was originally only available as a plans-built project, however, Sonex Aircraft quickly began selling component part kits.
