Plans For DJI Action Cam Leaked

Would Include Much Of The Technology Used In The Osmo Pocket Camera

After gaining some traction with its Osmo Pocket 3-axis gimbaled camera, DJI appears to be heading into the action camera market and taking direct aim at GoPro.

DIY Photography reports that some in the industry are hearing that DJI plans to repurpose the technology used in the Osmo Pocket into an action camera with a wide-angle rectilinear lens that will produce a more pleasing image than a fish-eye lens. DroneGear.TV reports that the camera is likely to have front and back LCD screens, and capture 4K video at 60 frames per second, and 1080p video at 120 fps.

GoPro failed rather spectacularly with its Karma drone, which it hoped would compete with the DJI line. Now, it looks like DJI may go fishing in GoPro's pond to see if it can make inroads into a market that has been dominated by the camera company.

The price is rumored to be set at about $350, or $50 less than the GoPro Hero 7 Black.
